Arles Roman Arena is pretty much the main attraction in Arles, a city of attractions and attractiveness. I enjoyed eating dinner in the shadow of it. Nothing like being in the presence of a 2000 year old piece of architecture.
The month of June seems to be dedicated to horse shows at the arena. Later there will be bulls. If you read French you can check out Les Arènes d’Arles
And in this day of vacation apartment rentals, you can even get rooms overlooking the arena. Imagine staying in House with private garden 50 meters from the arena.
And there’s the whole Van Gogh thing going on, too—and the magnificent carvings on the Cathedral.
