The City of Paris really, really wants people to enjoy August in Paris. Now, you can go to the beach, while staying in the City of Light. The Paris Plages (Paris Beaches) event creates beaches right on the banks of the Seine. There are concerts, sports, games, and cafes – just like a seaside resort in the Caribbean or Costa del Sol. The beaches have sand, beach chairs, swimming pools, and boule courts. This year, the two sites are: voie Georges-Pompidou (in the 4th Arrondissement) and the Bassin de la Villete (19th Arrondissement) which will be transformed into a port.
