End of the World Alert - McDonald's to open inside the Louvre

Well. A Tour de France Gastronomique seems a might futile this morning. McDonald’s is opening inside the Louvre, under the glass pyramid, where the new ticketing station will be.

That said, one is not obligated to eat there, right? Move on, pass on, go right on by, and eat at the various Louvre cafes and the neighborhood cafes. Go to Angelinas for the best hot chocolate in the world.

No deep-fried butter! No homogenized cuisine! Wandering Man has this absolutely right. We look to Europe and to the localvore movement for good eats plus the moral and ecological commitment to supporting local farmers, maintaining genetic crop diversity, and ensuring that the wonders of quality, creative, home/farm/5-star cooking continue to astound, please, confound, and nourish future generations.

On the other hand (there’s always another hand), if you are a brave parent of children or adolescents striving to interest them in the Louvre, then the classic McDonald’s bribe is a reasonable trade-off. Sometimes the kids (and even the adults) need a taste of something familiar. But only after fair consideration. After all, you’re in France!
