Another sign that times are changing: The French are cutting back on drinking their iconic bottled mineral waters, even Evian. Instead, just like here in the US, they’re switching to tap water. Why? To reduce the environmental impact of all those unrecycled plastic bottles and also to save a few euros (almost said francs). Apparently, bottled water is about 200 times more expensive than tap.
That said, my French mother-in-law prescribed Evian when any family member was sick, especially young children. She always had a bottle of mineral water on the counter (never chilled, of course.) I figure she knew, as did her mother before her. So, let’s be mindful and enjoy bottled water as a very special treat – in glass bottles if possible.
With the money we save, we can enjoy some lovely rose’!
