News of Paris: The Eiffel Tower in Bleu!

Something special for a few months at most: the Eiffel Tower (la Tour Eiffel!) is lit in blue and decorated with 12 golden stars, to celebrate France’s 6-month Presidency of the EU. Every hour on the hour, it sparkles all over with 20,000 tiny lights. You may only have a few weeks to see it: one report says the Tower will go back to its usual lights by September 21st, while another says it will stay blue until the end of the year when the Presidency rotates away from France. It’s an ethereal light show in any color.

There are many, many vantage points from which to see the Tower. One possibility is the terrace at Chez Francis in the evening as the sky begins to deepen and night comes on. Have a little glass of something and watch the magic.

Enjoy!
