Dreams of chocolate

First, a humble apology for the hiatus. I had a job, a big job, and in this economic climate, had to devote every waking (and some sleeping) moments to it. I’m still having nightmares, actually.

That said, it’s back to dreams of France – and chocolate. While we wait and hope for the financial world to stabilize, it’s important to dream, to evoke the visions we want to make into reality. For me, that means eating sweets in France.

Do you want to know where to find a wild strawberry tart? The best museum cafe’s in Paris? The flakiest pain au chocolat?

Then, pick up a small, charming, affordable paperback: The Patisseries of Paris: Chocolatiers, Tea Salons, Ice Cream Parlors, and More, by Jamie Cahill. It looks like a box of chocolates and, for me, represents the best of travel writing: a practical guidebook plus lovely pictures and essays that teach me a little something new. I love the idea of a comparative analysis of the different creams used in French pastry. How about my new dream job – chocolate buyer for a gourmet store? All this and more await within!

The book is pretty, practical, a good escape, and calorie-free. Enjoy!
