Oddly, the Yves St. Laurent retrospective is in San Francisco, while a tribute to Sonia Rykiel is on at Les Arts Decoratifs in Paris through April 19, 2009. Fashion is fashion, however, and the cold, gray depths of winter are a wonderful time to immerse oneself in flights of fancy.
Besides Les Arts Decoratifs has 3 sites and lots of stuff to see. They’re also featuring a uniquely-themed exhibit based solely on color: “Aussi Rouge Que Possible”. Every object is red, from decor, to games, textiles, furniture, posters – everything expresses the possibilities created by the various shades of red. I love this idea. Perhaps a gold exhibit (or does Versailles cover that theme adequately already?)
Les Arts Decoratifs is located at: 107 rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris
01-44-55-57-50. Closed Mondays, extended hours Tuesday nights.

Perhaps a stop at Angelina’s afterword for the Pot de Chocolat a l’Africaine? A little shopping for the perfect black dress (I know exactly where to find one . . . )
